‘Evening of Champs’ to support cancer research

Top Olympic and world-class ice skaters will continue their battle against cancer this fall as they gather to participate in “An Evening With Champions,” America’s premier figure skating exhibition. Hosted by 1992 Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie, this year’s performances will feature a star-studded cast including 1994 Olympic gold medalist Alexei Urmanov, 1998 Olympic silver medalists Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, two-time U.S. national champion Scott Davis, and many more.

The 31st chapter of “An Evening With Champions,” a Boston tradition since 1970, is organized by students in Harvard’s Eliot House to raise money for the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Founded in 1948, the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is dedicated to the eradication of cancer in children and adults. The National Cancer Institute has recognized Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as one of the world’s leaders in cancer research, support, and care.

In the past, the show has featured the talent of local and world-class figure skaters such as Tara Lipinski, Paul Wylie, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Oksana Baiul, and Michelle Kwan.

Performances of “An Evening With Champions” at Harvard’s Bright Hockey Center are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and senior citizens, and may be purchased by calling (617) 493-8172.
