Reinhardt Book Links Business and Environment

Forest Reinhardt, associate professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, has linked business success and environmental consciousness in his book Down to Earth: Applying Business Principles to Environmental Management.

The book, published in December 1999, argues that business managers would benefit if they set about solving environmental problems with traditional business tools and methods. This approach, Reinhardt argues, can lead to some companies turning environmental constraints into opportunities to both improve the company’s performance and minimize its impact on the environment.

Campbell Wins TIAA-CREF Citation

John Campbell, Otto Eckstein Professor of Applied Economics, won a certificate of excellence from the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association–College Retirement Fund (TIAA-CREF) for By Force of Habit: A Consumption-based Explanation of Aggregate Stock Market Behavior.

Campbell won the award on Jan. 7, along with co-author John Cochrane of the University of Chicago.

Kahn into Orthodox Union’s Honor Society

Ari Kahn, a first-year student at Harvard Law School, was inducted into the Ben Zaakai Honor Society of the Orthodox Union’s National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY) at the organization’s annual dinner, held Jan. 30 in New York City. An active member of NCSY since his freshman year in high school, Kahn, of West Hempstead, N.Y., was recognized for his dedication to NCSY, for which he has served as adviser and dorm counselor, while pursuing rigorous academic studies at Yeshiva University and Ner Yisrael Rabbinical College.

The NCSY Ben Zaakai Honor Society was founded to recognize the achievements of distinguished NCSY alumni who have “demonstrated personal Torah growth and the promise of meaningful future service to the Jewish community.”
